How did a young game boy end up Gaming With Pops?
You've gotta admit, it's pretty cool to be able to chill with one's Pops while mowing down zombies and conquering time and space. Not everyone has a dad cool enough or even capable of playing online games. There are a lot of Luddite dads out there. So why the website?
It grew out of the responses I got whenever I told people I was gaming online with my Dad. "You're what?" Why is this so hard to believe? I wondered. But the more Pops and I kept gaming, the more I knew I we had something worth sharing. Some wild adventures, witty commentary, dumb jokes, epic death scenes, and a lot of good clean fun.
My love for video games started back in the Medieval Gaming period, the early 1980's, when my family got the Atari 2600. It was all the rage back then. I grew up playing classics like Centipede, Frogger, and Pac-Man. With the 1980's being the height of the Console Wars, I was fortunate to train (okay, play games) on the NES, Super NES, Sega Genesis, and Atari Jaguar. We eventually got into PC games when Pops bought a 286 12MHz PC. (Thanks, Pops!)
PC and console games always felt distinctively different from each other. I didn't necessarily prefer one over the other, since they both had their strengths. I still have great fondness for both console and PC games. (Can't take the game out of the boy!)
I simply created this site to share the fun of my online gaming experiences. I had so much fun Gaming With Pops, that I figured, hey: the more the merrier! At the very least, we hope you'll get a good laugh and are entertained, even if it takes one of us dying a different way in that same stupid spot a few dozen times.
Anyway, that's enough chit-chat. We've got games to play, so thanks for stopping by. Feel free to leave a snarky comment or suggestion. Game on!
